Our bookmobile will be hitting the streets of Hell’s Kitchen this summer in partnership with the Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance! The Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance (HYHK) is a not-for-profit organization whose work involves supplemental sanitation services, streetscape improvements, neighborhood horticulture and beautification projects, and assistance to district small businesses in the Hudson Yards and Hells Kitchen neighborhoods. Come out and support their initiative!

 

With CLOTH 159: Open Streets
  • Where: Washington Heights, 159th St between Broadway and Amsterdam Aves, Manhattan

Open Streets is back in the heights with CLOTH 159, which means House of Speakeasy will also be back with your favorite books through our bookmobile!

 

With NYCHA: Family Day
  • Where: Coney Island Houses, 3020 Surf Ave, Brooklyn
  • When: Saturday, August 3, 2024, 12-5 pm
  • What: Family Day

Every summer, NYCHA hosts Family Days for residents at each development to come together at their developments for food, games, music and entertainment, face painting and bouncy houses, resources, and more. In addition to residents, the events are attended by NYCHA staff, elected officials, and local organizations like our beloved House of Speakeasy bookmobile.

Red Hook Initiative returns with its annual Block Party. Stop by and celebrate with your neighbors! There will be art, music, games, food, and of course, books from our Speakeasy bookmobile.

Weeksville Heritage Center is back with their Green Market! They will have a wide selection of low-cost, locally grown produce on site. House of Speakeasy will be attending the delicious, nutritious affair with some food for thought: our books.

Join Brooklyn Book Bodega, READ 718, and us for yet another Bookend series event celebrating young readers. United by a shared mission of building community, increasing book access, and fostering a love of reading, we invite families and book lovers to these Bookend series events, featuring readings by Brooklyn authors and art-making workshops throughout the day at READ 718’s center in Bed-Stuy. Of course, we will be there to distribute free books for grades K-12 via out bookmobile alongside the Brooklyn Book Bodega.
