Annabelle Selldorf
Selldorf performed at our May 2026 Seriously Entertaining show “Safeguarding the Irreplaceable,” in collaboration with World Monuments Fund (WMF).
Annabelle Selldorf is the founding principal of Selldorf Architects, the New York-based practice she established in 1988. Her work is known for its deep engagement with historic structures. Among the most recent entries in her body of work is the transformation of the Frick Collection, which reopened in April 2025 after a multiyear renovation in collaboration with executive architect Beyer Blinder Belle. Selldorf documents the project in A Design for Continuity and Change: The Frick Collection, which explores the history and context of this ambitious project. In 2025, she was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of the year for “reimagining monumental architecture.” Her portfolio spans the Neue Galerie New York, the Rubell Museum, David Zwirner’s galleries in Chelsea and Los Angeles, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, LUMA Arles, the Mwabwindo School in Zambia, and the Sunset Park Material Recovery Facility. She is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the recipient of the 2016 AIANY Medal of Honor and the 2025 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal from the Municipal Art Society of New York. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and serves on the board of trustees of World Monuments Fund.
