P. J. O’Rourke wrote over twenty books on subjects as diverse as politics and cars and etiquette and economics. Parliament of Whores and Give War a Chance both reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. He was an H. L. Mencken Research Fellow at the Cato Institute, a regular panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me, and editor-in-chief of the web magazine American Consequences. His book, A Cry from the Far Middle: Dispatches from a Divided Land, was published in September 2020. He passed away on February 15, 2022.

We remember the late P.J. O'Rourke as a celebrated satirist and journalist. O'Rourke was one of the first supporters of House of SpeakEasy for "Runnin' Wild", our first annual gala in 2015. He gave a hilarious monologue on the baby boomer generation. "If we hadn't decided to be young forever...we'd be old," O'Rourke said. You can watch it below.
