Abeer Hoque

Abeer is leading a College Readiness after-school workshop for SpeakTogether at Union Settlement in East Harlem this 2022-23 school year. Abeer also led a Student Storytelling Workshop for SpeakTogether at the Williamsburg High School of Art & Technology during the month of March 2022 titled “Being and Becoming.” 

Abeer Hoque is a Nigerian-born Bangladeshi American writer and photographer. Her books include a travel photography and poetry monograph, The Long Way Home, a linked collection of stories, poems, and photographs, The Lovers and Leavers, and a memoir, Olive Witch. She has won fellowships from the NEA, Queens Council on the Arts, NYFA, and the Fulbright Foundation, and holds BS and MA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and an MFA in writing from the University of San Francisco.
