UGBA

UGBA performed at a SpeakTogether student matinee at Edward R. Murrow High School in Midwood, Brooklyn, on May 16, 2018, speaking on the theme, “Live For The Moment,” and February 1, 2019, speaking on the theme, “All the World’s A Stage.” He also led a Summer Writing Workshop for SpeakTogether at Talent Unlimited High School on August 2, 2018, and August 7, 2018, and a College Readiness after-school workshop for SpeakTogether at Union Settlement in East Harlem on April 10, 2019.

UGBA is a poet, playwright, performance artist, and activist. He has performed at the United Nations/UNICEF, Apollo Theater, Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe, and Bowery Poetry Club. His writing and poetry can be found in The Rumpus, The Root, Afropunk, Black Youth Project, and he has a forthcoming anthology entitled The Future is Black: Afropessimism, Fugitivity and Radical Hope in Education co-edited by Michael Dumas, Ashley Woodson, and Carl Grant. He is currently at work on a one-man play at Dixon Place, where he is artist-in-residence.
